| I've got nothing art-wise for you today. So here is a picture of Misha and I bonding over some Beatles. In case you were not aware, Misha is my brand new mandolin that my father made (completely and fully from scratch) for me. Note the bizarre shape of the body; I redesigned it it be easier to hold and my dad did the rest. I'm really proud of my dad's handiwork so I'll post better photos after it's undergone its finishing touches. "Misha" because the laquer makes it smell like a matryoshka doll. |

The Beginning of the End
My blog has been neglected lately, but not for much longer! Yesterday I finished my Super Serious Senior Sproject (I really needed that alliteration to work. I apologize). This is a big deal for me. I spent 3.5 years of college dreading this project, and the last 2 months of college wishing it would just finish itself while I sat in bed eating chocolate.
Anyhow, it is finally DONE! I wanted to share with you what I've been working on for the past semester. It's also the primary reason that there have been no comics on my blog, so this is where you can direct your anger at my infrequent posts.

Pro-Tip
If you write your to-do list on nice paper with nice handwriting you'll be more likely to get the stuff done because the little boxes are so enticing. No promises that you'll enjoy the process any more than if you had scribbled on a post-it. But at least it will look pretty while it makes you feel guilty.

A very merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates on the old calendar! Today my people feast on non-Lenten foods. Traditionally the animals eat first, and sometimes hay is scattered underneath the table cloth.

I had this photo rattling around on my computer, begging to be drawn, for years now and I finally was compelled to put it on paper. It felt empty so I added the halo and the red drips. I'm still not sure how I feel about those parts but I'm relatively happy with this piece overall. I would have scanned it all nice for ya but the enamel is still drying and I don't want to get it all over the scanner bed! So this is just an edited photobooth picture.
Stir Crazy
I've been working on the same project for about six weeks. It's due in 6 days. It's my last project of the semester. AND I AM SO BORED. I am sick of looking at the same freaking thing every day and I just want it to be finished!!!!

Okay guys. It's that time of year again.
FINALS.

Don't we all just love the holiday season? The soft glow of your computer screen lighting your sleep-deprieved face, the stacks of papers decorating your room, and the sound of quiet sobbing that seems to fill the night. Inhale that sweet, sweet aroma of winter time and day-old ramen noodles! These are the days you'll remember forever, ladies and gents!
This is my second to last final season ever, so I am trying to make the most of it. And by 'trying to make the most of it', I mean 'trying to not let it consume my life.' I'm pretty sure you can guess who is winning that battle. I literally spend all my time working, eating, sleeping, and hanging out with Travis (read: falling asleep on his bed because I am too tired to go anywhere fun). And when I am not doing those things, I am worrying about having the time to do those things. Mostly the work part. It has gotten to the point where:
I think come December, I'll be so far into finals that I'll just give up any hope of normal sleep and wake cycles, as well as catching the mythical Free Time.
But for now, I am sorry to say I cannot promise comics on a normal basis. You may have noticed the long periods of silence followed by three or fours days of posting. This is because on the last Day of Silence, I probably found time to draw comics so I drew a whole bunch. Then I used them up as the days wore on and had no time to make more. Rinse, repeat. So guys, I'm sorry. You won't hear from me for a while. I'll post whatever I can, but no promises for daily, every-other-day-ly, or even once a week. Stupid finals are killing my soouullll.

They See Me Trolling
For those of you who had read this entry when it was longer, I just wanted to keep you updated.
I got a personal email from the President of the Board of Directors, apologizing for the emails I had previously received. She was professional and friendly. To show my gratitude (and to show her that I hold no hard feelings for her company) I've removed the original blog post. The comic stays, because it's my artwork that comments on a general topic. But the email correspondence has been removed.
I don't want to defame them; I'm satisfied that the President of the Board heard what I had to say! That's more than enough, and I am extremely grateful that someone listened.
Thanks to everyone who agreed with me and supported my stance. Just because we're students, doesn't mean we're door mats!

My first big project of the semester is DONE. My life for the past week has been this advertising campaign. As you saw in my last post, I ended up taking my own photos (something I've never had to do before). I'm rather proud of how the photos turned out, so here's a sampling of them!

| This one Lydia found and bought: "Oceana: Our Endangered Oceans and what We Can Do to Save Them" by Ted Danson. Lydia is a huge conservation advocate, and this book is all about overfishing, pollution, and the effects on the ocean. Besides being an informative read, it is also STUNNING. The design is absolutely gorgeous. |

| This one I bought for practicality's sake. It was the most expensive of the lot, ringing up at $23 (down from $40!!). But it's so useful!! It's all about what to charge, how to write contracts, what other people are paying, going rates for illustrations/designing/etc, and how to master the business side of graphic design. I'm going to read it cover to cover. |
**edit: noticed Travis in the mirror, reading Moonshine, a book that now costs more than three times what it originally did on Amazon. It was another awesome gift book
