Graduation

I did it. I finished college. With my grades, motivation, and sanity (mostly) intact.

Last night was our big senior show and we had a huge turn out! I was lucky enough to have my family there for the whole thing. It felt great to finally see my book being read and enjoyed the way it was meant to be. And I am over the moon that people actually liked it! People I don't know! Crazy.

That being said, I was kind of mentally preparing myself to accept that I was now in the Real World and needed to be grown up and responsible (seriously though, is anyone?), and was actually considering shutting down this blog. I figured, hey, I need to find a job, I'll be writing a graphic novel, and I don't think I'll have any time for Rachel Draws. Plus, who gives a shit?

Turns out, some people I had never met before give a shit and I ran into a few at the show. And at least one of them said "I love your blog! Keep it up!"

I'm gonna have a moment here, so no judgment.

I will keep it up, I won't stop posting stuff here. And maybe something really great will come of this sometime down the road. Who knows.

For now I'm settling in for a couple of weeks then I'll be putting myself on a schedule for DAILY POSTS (the cake is not a lie) and maybe sneak peaks at the comic book I'm hoping to finish by September. Morgan, Travis, Ahna, Lydia, Vina, (mom, dad, if you are reading this, you too :), and all you other people who read this but never got a personal shout out, you guys made it all worthwhile. Thanks for sticking with me.

SEACREST OUT.

The Beginning of the End

My blog has been neglected lately, but not for much longer! Yesterday I finished my Super Serious Senior Sproject (I really needed that alliteration to work. I apologize). This is a big deal for me. I spent 3.5 years of college dreading this project, and the last 2 months of college wishing it would just finish itself while I sat in bed eating chocolate.

Anyhow, it is finally DONE! I wanted to share with you what I've been working on for the past semester. It's also the primary reason that there have been no comics on my blog, so this is where you can direct your anger at my infrequent posts.

Just a disclaimer because this is the internet and I feel this is necessary:
I do not own the rights to any of the photos in this book. The illustrations are all mine and copyrighted, but the images of other comic books are not my property. They have been properly referenced from their original sources and authors. Similarly, the first three chapters of text were not written by me and credit is given to the original authors. This is a student project and will not be sold. I am not (nor ever will be) making money off of these artists'/authors' creations unless I were to gain their full permission.

Yogurt

Well look at the time. It's my birthday! I'm turning Old.

Lots of big things happening, besides the anniversary of my eviction from a placenta! Today I am going to send my senior thesis book to be printed (gasp!) and this weekend I'll get to bind it. Next week is when all of my finals are due (well, except for a lone presentation on the 9th although the project is technically due on the 2nd..). The following week is the big Senior Thesis Show, which is crazy exciting. And then what? Then I'm DONE. I'll be officially a college graduate! A few days after the senior show, my best friend is coming in to town, then my grandma, then we're having a party for my sister (she is also graduating) and me.... like I said, there is a lot happening!

So here's a comic I scribbled after babysitting a group of kids who really wanted their yogurt.
